Places
Open Entities in the masthead, then Places. A place is an organisation you belong to or belonged to: a company you worked for, a school you studied at, a church, a club, or a service you use.
Where places come from
Section titled “Where places come from”- Mail from an organisation, such as
info@orsupport@addresses, or senders whose names end in Ltd, Inc or the like, joins a place rather than becoming a person. Every company that ever emailed you is known, but not listed. - The curator reports organisations you’re part of, with your relationship to them, such as employer or studied there.
A place is listed when it appears in at least two documents and the curator found your relationship to it, or when you’ve added or edited it. Everything else is under Everyone else.
The list and a place’s page
Section titled “The list and a place’s page”The list works like People’s: Find, Sort, Show and a Kind filter.
A place’s page has its name, your relationship and its kind, such as “Employer, a company, 2015 – 2019”, then:
- About it: facts, with Fix, Remove and Add;
- People there: people you know with an address at its domains;
- its addresses and domains;
- its correspondence.
Its More menu holds Rename, Kind, Merge with another place…, Is a person and Not relevant.
When a person is really a place
Section titled “When a person is really a place”On People, use Choose, tick the people, and choose Is a place…. Each can become its own place, or they can all become one. Their mail and facts move to the place, and future mail from their addresses goes there too. Is a person on a place’s page turns it back.
Only documents curated after places arrived have places found in them. Finding them in your older documents needs a full re-curation.
