Connecting your agents

Your AI agents can search and read your archive through its MCP server. Each one asks for your approval first, and you can revoke it at any time.

Your archive’s MCP address is:

https://app.the-archivist.cc/mcp

Settings → Agents shows it with Copy.

Add it once at claude.ai, in Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then sign in and approve it. It’s then available in every Claude app signed in to that account: claude.ai, the desktop and mobile apps, and Claude Code.

If you sign in to Claude Code with an API key instead, run:

Terminal window
claude mcp add --transport http archivist https://app.the-archivist.cc/mcp

then run /mcp in Claude Code to sign in.

  1. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, choose Add, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name it archivist, set Connection to https://app.the-archivist.cc/mcp and Authentication to OAuth.
  3. Choose Create as plugin, then Connect on the next screen, and approve it in The Archivist.

Custom MCP servers depend on your ChatGPT plan.

Any app that supports remote MCP servers can connect. Add a remote (HTTP) server with the address above. The app signs in with OAuth, and you approve it in The Archivist. Settings → Agents → Other apps links each app’s own guide.

When an app connects, The Archivist asks you to sign in and approve it. Approved apps are listed under Settings → Agents → Connected apps, with Revoke.

Access tokens from Settings → Access tokens don’t work for MCP; agents always sign in this way.

They can search your archive, read whole threads and notes, look people up, and see what happened when. They can save a note, but only when you ask them to. No tool can change or delete anything else. Every tool and parameter is listed in MCP tools.
